I did these because I do a lot of telecommunications, and I abhor the layout of the PowerBook keyboard for this purpose.
Drop the PowerBook esc/tilde swap into your system file.
Use the keyboard control panel to choose the new keyboard layout.
Now your keyboard has escape in the upper left, like you'd want it.
You can change keycaps if you want. Two little screwdrivers will help you pry off the old keycaps. Pressure will put them back in the new locations. Of course, if you break anything, it's your fault, not mine. The document "PowerBook Key Remapping" has more details on this process, if you're interested.
If you'd like to disable the caps lock key, use the "CapsKiller esc/tilde switch" instead of "PowerBook esc/tilde swap" file. You can throw away the CapsLock extension that comes with your PowerBook if you do this.
Finally, if you don't want to swap the escape and tilde keys, just use the "No CapsLock" file.
